Why you can trust the numbers
Stock software is only worth having if its figures are right. Here is exactly what we do to make sure ours are, and what we still cannot promise.
We run your business before you do
Before any of this reached a screen, we built a fake business and ran it for the equivalent of a hundred thousand days.
Purchase orders raised. Suppliers arriving late, and arriving short. Goods counted in. Stock moved between shelves. Items sold across several marketplaces at once. Returns, refunds, damages, price changes. Two members of staff editing the same product in the same instant. Stocktakes where the physical count disagrees with the system.
Six hundred thousand stock movements, and after every single one we checked that a short list of rules still held.
The rules
These are the things that must be true, always, or the software is lying to you.
| Rule | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| On-hand equals the sum of its movements | The number on screen is always the sum of everything that happened. Stock cannot quietly go missing. |
| Stock never goes negative | You cannot end up with minus three of something because of a bad entry. |
| Never reserve more than you hold | Two people selling the last item at once cannot both succeed. |
| A transfer moves stock, never creates it | Moving things between locations can never change your total. |
| A count is always an audited adjustment | A stocktake never silently overwrites your figures. Every difference is recorded, with a reason. |
| Every change records who, when and why | You can always find out what happened, and undo it. |
| Money is whole pence | No rounding drift. £8.50 × 100,000 is exactly £850,000, not £849,999.98. |
We break it on purpose
A test that has never failed is not evidence that the software works. It is equally consistent with the tests being broken.
So we sabotage it deliberately: marketplace outages, the same order arriving twice, an order arriving a day late, the clock jumping, malformed files, a hundred thousand rows at once, a stocktake abandoned halfway. Twenty-one different kinds of sabotage, twelve thousand faults injected. The rules held through all of it.
And once a run, we introduce a genuine bug - stock leaving a shelf without being recorded - purely to confirm the checks still catch it. They do, every time, within one event.
Every bug becomes permanent
When something does go wrong, the exact conditions are saved and become a test that runs forever afterwards. The same fault cannot come back. The list of things that can no longer break only ever gets longer.
What we will not claim
Not "100% working"
Nobody can honestly say that, and anyone who does is selling something. What we can say is narrower and checkable: every rule above has been tested after every one of nearly a million simulated events, including events designed to break it, and here is the evidence.
Software has bugs. Ours will too. The difference is what happens next: a fault becomes a permanent test rather than a thing you have to remember.
Your data
Three commitments, and they are tested the same way as everything else.
- You can always export. One click, complete, in a format you can import elsewhere - including after you cancel.
- A failed payment never deletes anything. It makes your account read-only until the card is fixed. Your stock stays exactly where it is.
- Cancelling takes one click, in the app, with no email to send and no retention maze.
We test the restore, not just the backup. A backup you have never restored is decoration.
