Decide what to do next
Buy
What is running out, and how much to order.
Not you are eight short, which you already knew, but order forty-one, because it takes nine days to arrive and you sell three a day while you wait. Every figure behind the answer can be shown on the screen.
For whoever orders from suppliers and wants a quantity to order, not just a warning.
What is on it
-
What to order
Every product under the level you never want to drop below, with how many to order beside it.
-
Worked out from sales
How fast each product has sold over the last 90 days, how long it takes to arrive, and a safety margin, shown so you can disagree with it.
-
Change it where you see it
Adjust a product's days to arrive or its minimum right on its row, and the order changes with it.
-
Days of stock to hold
Choose how many days of stock you want beyond the time it takes to arrive.
-
A list to send
The order as plain text, ready to copy into an email to whoever you buy from.
-
Place it, and stop ordering it twice
Place what it suggests as an order, with the supplier's name and your own order number. Whatever is outstanding on an open order comes off the next suggestion, so a second look does not order the same shortfall again.
How it works
- Set the level you never want each product to drop below, or let Automate set them all from sales.
- Open Buy to see what is under it and how many of each to order.
- Copy the list and send it to your supplier.
What it does not do yet
A screen that looks like it did something it didn't is the worst outcome, so this is said here as plainly as it is in the app.
- There are no suppliers as records, only the name you type on an order, so there is nothing to compare two of them on yet.
- Nothing is sent. Placing an order writes it down here; the list is still yours to email or ring through.

Questions people actually ask
Where does the suggested quantity come from?
How fast the product actually sells, taken from the movements you have already recorded, the lead time you set for it and the days of cover you want on top. Every one of those numbers is on the screen, and Show the work prints the arithmetic, so you can disagree with the answer rather than trust it.
Does it actually order anything?
It writes the order down, which is the part that matters here: what you asked for, from whom, under your own order number. Nothing is sent to the supplier and no money moves. Receive then takes the delivery in against that order, and anything still outstanding comes off the next suggestion so you do not order it twice.
What if I know better than the number?
Change the lead time or the days of cover on the screen and every figure recalculates, or type your own quantity over the suggestion. Nothing here writes to your stock: it is a list to act on, not an instruction.
Does this automatically order stock for me?
No, and that is deliberate. Buy calculates what it thinks you should order and shows every figure behind the number, but placing the order is still something you do on purpose, and nothing is sent to a supplier automatically. That matters because a suggestion built on a lead time or a minimum that is wrong will suggest the wrong quantity just as confidently as a right one, and software that emails your supplier without a human looking first turns one bad number into a bad order. Get the lead times and minimums right first; the automation is only trustworthy as far as the numbers behind it are.
